In February 2013 we offer ten days of creative writing in the 16th-century city of Jodhpur, on the edge of the great Thar desert in western Rajasthan. Situated on the old caravan trade route to the seaports of the west, Jodhpur remains a city of markets: narrow lanes of the historic blue city wind past 7,000 small shops. Above this labyrinth towers the majestic Mehrangarh, Rajasthan's most impenetrable fort.

Now in their fourteenth year, the Traveler's Mind Workshops are designed to capture the traveler's special state of alertness and curiosity and use it to heighten the learning experience. By traveling beyond the familiar surroundings of home, students can develop the habit of close observation and the practice of a disciplined writing life.
