2010 Schedule

Traveler's Mind Writing Workshop: Sucre, Bolivia

September 10-20, 2010

The workshop runs ten days, from Friday, September 10 through Sunday, September 20. Students arrive on September 10, and the workshop begins that evening with orientation.

In Sucre we will stay downtown at a lovely Colonial home converted to hotel. We eat in various cafés around town, and hold classes in the hotel’s small conference room.

Please note: this schedule requires that participants fly on September 9 in order to arrive in Santa Cruz on Friday morning, September 10, and catch a short flight to Sucre. Likewise, departure flights should be scheduled from either Santa Cruz or La Paz for Tuesday, September 21, allowing for the short flight from Sucre back to an international airport when the workshop ends on the 20th, and an early departure the following day. We can suggest central, clean affordable hotels in Santa Cruz for this extra night. For those who want to extend their trip to Bolivia beyond the workshop, we can also contribute colorful and exotic travel suggestions.

In March, we will send a reminder about immunizations and about passports, which must be valid for at least six months before entry into Bolivia. Visas for US citizens cost $135 and are good for multiple entries over a five-year period; a visa is not required for citizens of Canada for a stay of up to 30 days. In June, we will send a more detailed schedule, including what to pack, along with contact numbers for Sucre.
